HOUSING PROJECT
HOUSING
FOR ALL

COMING
SOON!
According to a recent study from Chapin Hill at the University of Chicago, LGBTQ+ young people are 120% more likely to experience homelessness than non-LGBTQ+ youth. Full Spectrum Community Outreach, Mahoning Valley’s only LGBTQ+ center, is working to build an inclusive Mahoning Valley where LGBTQ+ people thrive as healthy, equal and complete members of society. Our latest project is purchasing a house that would provide a safe space for members of the LGBTQ+ community. Presently, The Mahoning Valley only has one homeless shelter that welcomes youths in the LGBTQ+ community, and they have a limited amount of beds. No shelters in our area are welcoming to LGBTQ+ adults. Our goal is to purchase a four bedroom house in Youngstown, that will provide eight beds to the LGBTQ+ community who are experiencing homelessness. This home will also serve as offices for Full Spectrum Community Outreach Center and will be used for support group meetings, and to provide non-perishable food, clothing and toiletries for those in need.
Because of Covid-19, all planned fundraisers for the purchase of the house have been postponed. In order for this much needed home to become a reality, we are reaching out to generous people in the area for donations.
Thank you for your consideration in such a worthwhile project.
