MEET OUR TEAM
Tim Bortner is currently a local business owner and 2016 graduate of Youngstown State University. While at YSU he focused on many areas, one of which was Graphic Design. He worked closely with YSUnity LGBTQIA+; Youngstown State University’s most visible and vocal GSA, for over 6 years holding different officer positions including President. Tim works very closely with the LGBTQIA+ population throughout the Mahoning Valley and is well known for his activism. Since graduating, he has kept strong relationships and networked with local LGBTQIA+ friendly businesses, and allies over the years. Tim helped to form BCC Full Spectrum Community Outreach Center because he saw a lack of services and resources for the LGBTQIA+ population in the tri-county and outlying areas. When he's not overseeing Full Spectrum's operations, he is busy at work running his very own carnival company. While fun events and graphic design are careers for Tim, helping the LGBTQIA+ community is his passion.
Community Engagement Director
Remi Dandridge-Kennedy graduated from Youngstown (Now Rayen) Early College High School and Choffin Career and Technical Center, receiving certifications in Professional Healthcare Provider Assistant , Phlebotomy and Nurses Aide. She plans to return to school to pursue further education in cosmetology and business. She is the first and current reigning Miss Pride In The Valley (Mx.PITV) 2019/2020. She has volunteered at a local shelter and former soup kitchen several times over the years.
"I look forward to being a volunteer because not only is this my community, but I've witnessed a lot of 'the struggle' as a young black transwoman who struggled with acceptance, homelessness, and lack of support. I'd like to give back or at least be a beacon of hope that can reassure that things can and will get better."
Katie Tringhese-Salupo is a graduate of Ursuline High School and John Carroll University where she obtained her BA in Education. She currently runs her family’s business in Youngstown. She has previously coordinated the Immigrant Assistant Volunteers in Youngstown. She is a lifelong ally of the LGBTQIA+ community and strongly believes that our area needs transitional housing that would be a safe space for LGBTQIA+ people experiencing homelessness, where their basic needs can be met.
Andrew is currently Communications Director for the Alzheimer's Association, Greater East Ohio Area Chapter, managing awareness and community relations efforts across 17 counties since 2015. He has a BA in Education from the University of Akron, with additional experience in government relations and volunteer advocate management. He’s worked with a wide range of nonprofits in Akron and Cleveland, and advocates strongly that all Ohioans must have access to safe, local LGBTQIA+ resources like those offered through Full Spectrum Community Outreach.
KAYDEN "KAYDE" SOMLITZ
Social Media Coordinator
Graduating in 2017, Kayde was the first openly transgender student at Hubbard. They came out as gay at a young age, and at the time, not many resources were available for LGBT+ people. They are motivated to volunteer for Full Spectrum because they want to provide the support they didn’t receive. Now at 22, they want to give back to the community that has provided so much for them. They have worked in customer service since they were 16, and love to help people.
