According to a recent study from Chapin Hall at the University of Chicago, LGBTQ+ young people are 120% more likely to experience homelessness than non-LGBTQ+ youth.
 
Full Spectrum Community Outreach, Mahoning Valley’s only LGBTQ+ center, is working to build an inclusive Mahoning Valley where LGBTQ+ people thrive as healthy, equal and complete members of society. Our goal was to purchase a space that would provide a safe space for homeless members of the LGBTQIA+ community.
 
Presently, The Mahoning Valley has no homeless shelter that welcomes the ALL LGBTQIA+ community. In August of 2023 we purchased our new center which came with a separate property at an undisclosed location. This property is being transformed into the areas first LGBTQIA+ community homeless shelter for local adults 18+.

This space will be a transitional shelter where clients will take part in life skill classes. Such as basic financial classes, cooking classes, job interview classes and other life skill classes. As well as offering case management services to help with many resources.

In order for this much needed shelter to become a reality, we are reaching out to generous people in the area for donations.
